Second to None - Garage Sale

I went to the Second to None Flea Market/Garage Sale yesterday, held at Jaaga, Bangalore. Second to None is based on a very eco-friendly idea and is innovative! It encourages the principles of reuse and recycle in our daily lives. So don't just throw out stuff that you don't need. Think, reuse or recycle. Your waste might be someone else's treasure!
Kudos to the organizers - Anu Gummaraju, Reena Chengappa and Shilpa Kamath Prabhu.

Shop Update: Cosmetic Pouches.

Heeeyy, happy Sunday! :) I've been sewing some new pouches for cosmetics, using a new technique and thus making a new shape for my pouches so that they become deeper and can contain more items. :) How do you like them? :) Each of these 3 pouches can be bought on DaWanda and please let me know if you want me to list one of them on etsy, too. :)

Here is how we enter home!!

Patty at Colours Dekor is having a Enchanting Entrances linky party this month. I decided to participate. I know I have just 3 days left to go.

And here is the entrance to my apartment (once you open the main door) -

The look changes every now and then.

The artifacts on this console table also keep changing depending on my mood and new stuff in the house ;)

These two are my latest additions. The tea light candle holder was gifted by mom and the ceramic plate by my sister.

The console table also holds some of my books and my favourite yellow pot!

Happy Friday!!

The pretty garland tote bag is back! :)

Hello! :) Remember the garland tote bag I made a few months ago? Back then, I attached little pieces of fabric to a jute bag and this time, I used textile color and handprinted the garland on the tote bag. :)
So those bags are back again in my shop and can be bought both on DaWanda and on etsy. :)
Moreover, when I printed the bags yesterday, I also printed those little triangles on fabric leftovers which I will use for sewing some pouches. :)

Wish you a nice day! :) Lu

Kalamkari Coasters and wine glass charms

I love putting together stuff at home to create different sets.... (art direction calling??? Just kidding. I have a long way to go in that direction) and then clicking pictures.
Here is a recent one that I did over the weekend.

Lets get some colour in -

I picked these beautiful coasters at an exhibition recently.
These are hand-painted Kalamkari fabrics made into coasters by laminating on top. They are made by artisans of the DRRT - Dwaraknath Reddy Ramanarpanam Trust based in and around the villages of Srikalahasthi, AP, India. They use eco-friendly natural vegetable dyes extracted from bark, flower and root of various plants and trees. Burnt tamarind twigs are used for sketching. Sharpened mango or bamboo twigs are used as pens or "kalams" for writing the fine outlines. They have a beautiful assortment of products ranging from apparel, bags, home decor to gifts and greeting cards.
To read more about them visit their website here.

And did you notice these cute little wine glass charms in this picture below?

These were made a very talented friend back in Minneapolis, USA. She makes them by hand and for each one she put in a cute li'l charm. Here is a closer look. This one is a purse that says "Paris" - THE place for bags.

This one is a mascara bottle. How cute is that??

The beautiful peach-pink roses are from friends. The green cushions - a gift from my sister. The crystal wine glasses - a gift from my parents. I have mentioned them here.

This is where I live.

Good morning! :) A few weeks ago Kim asked me to write a guest post for her blog about the town where I'm living and now I want to share this on my own blog, too. :)
I have been living in Potsdam for over 2 years now, it’s my place of residence and I love this city so much. Potsdam is full of beautiful, old buildings, a lot of them have been restored and here’s much water and lots of green areas and romantic parks. What is more, Potsdam is really close to Berlin, so you don’t need much time to go to the city. :)
Here I’m gonna show you some photos of Potsdam I took during the last two years to give you an impression of how it looks here. :)

On those two lomography actionsampler photos you can see the old Nikolai Church and a part of the New Palace, two of Potsdam’s famous buildings.

On the left, there’s the New Palace, it is located in Park Sans Souci, one of Germany’s most famous parks. On the right, there’s the place in front of the Nikolai Church and the old city hall which is normally full of tourists. :)

As you can see on those two images, a lot of buildings have already been restored, but there are also some left which seem to be forgotten. I love those contrasts in our townscape.

On the left, you can see the Dutch quarter, there are many tiny cafes and restaurants and next to the quarter, there’s a lovely market every day where one can buy regional fruits and vegetables. On the right, there’s one of the many beautiful places at the water, because Potsdam is surrounded by many lakes. :)

Potsdam has the best ice-cream parlor ever, they sell the most delicious sorbets. :) What is more, since here is so much water, we also have water cabs, they are like a huge cab on the water in form of a boat.

Here’s the Nikolai Church again, located behind the University for applied sciences. On the right, there’s the Little Brandenburger Tor which is located in Potsdam’s city center, it is an adaption of the original Brandenburger Tor in Berlin.

Here’s the beautiful Brandenburger Tor again and the Nauener Tor. The original city center was surrounded by a wall, but today, only its gates still exist. The two shown on the photos are just two of them.

Thanks for reading! :) In case you have once posted about your own hometown, let me know and leave me a link, I'd love to see where my readers are coming from. :)

The best birthday present I ever made. :)

Awwww, I got it done!!! :) It's been Flo's birthday a few days ago and apart from a material present I bought for him, I've been sewing this super duper pillow case. It has taken me a lot of time and effort, but it was worth every secong and I'm soooo proud of the result. :) I can hardly believe that it looks sooo good, although I never attended any sewing class. :)
So here are a few photos and if you want to have such a pillow case yourself, you can order one in my DaWanda shop or I can list it on etsy if there's anybody who wants one and doesn't speak German. Just leave me a message. :)

He really loves his new pillow. :)

What do you think? :)
