What I wore: Restyled Floral Dress // Vintage Dress Makeover.

Dress: vintage, restyled
Bag: Roland
Hair bow: handmade
Earrings: unknown
Sandals: h&m

Hello! You know I love vintage clothes, right? :) At the beginning of the year, I found this pretty dress at a thrift shop for just a few Euros. I didn't like its shape, but I immediately fell in love with the beautiful pattern. I love this floral print and its colors, so I had to take it with me. Then the dress has been hanging in my closet for a few months before I finally found the time to restyle it.
The original dress was long and had nice sleeves, but I didn't like the shape of the dress.

I cut off the top of the dress and inserted a rubber strap. Now I have a super pretty strapless floral summer dress, it didn't cost me much (just some time to alter it :)) and it's really unique.
When we recently went to the Mauerpark in Berlin, Anja afterwards took those photos of me. :*
How to you like my dress? Or do you even like the original one better? :)
Happy day!

Shop my closet! (vintage & handmade)

PLEASE NOTE: All items have already been sold and will soon be shipped to their new owners who now own a unique piece of clothing which is either handmade or vintage and I now have more space in my closet. :) Thanks for all your e-mails! :)

Hello friends! I recently looked into my wardrobe and noticed that there were a few vintage and handmade pieces that I hardly ever wear - either because they are not my size or not my style anymore.
I decided to start a little shop my closet sale here on the blog so that all those precious pieces can find a new owner who appreciates their value and uniqueness.

Here is how it works:
When you want to have one or several of those vintage or handmade pieces of clothing, send me an e-mail to luloveshandmade(at)web(dot)de with the subject line of the mail telling which piece(s) the mail is about. You then get my payment details (paypal only!) in order to transfer the money. First come, first serve. Please read the details of the pieces carefully, because this is just a private sale of second hand / handmade / vintage pieces of clothing and there won't be any refund or guarantee!
Worldwide shipping is included in the price and the closet sale will be held according to the principle first come, first serve! :)
All the vintage clothes are of course second hand, so there might be some traces of usage, but of course they are all in good condition and party even carefully altered, shortened or patched. The two handmade pieces were sewn by me and belong to the first pieces of clothing I have ever sewn. Of course they aren't technically perfect, - I'm no professional seamstress - but were made with lots of passion and are truly unique.
If there are any more questions, don't resitate to ask them in the comment section so that I can answer them publicly. :) Thanks!
I'd love to hand those piece over to a new owner. Happy shopping!

'The Blue Summer Breeze' dress:
This pretty vintage dress with white polka dots is made of 100% polyester, the white lining consists of 100% rayon, it can be washed at 30°.. The dress is closed with a zipper in the back and has a pretty collar. I looove the look of the dress but it simply doesn't fit. :)
>>> 30€ SOLD! :)

'Flower Baby' dress
This beautiful floral summer vintage dress is made of 67% rayon and 33% cotton. Hand wash only. The dress is closed with some buttons and is rather a short dress (as it can be seen in the photo where it is worn by my pretty friend Stef), it has been shortened by me.
>>> 30€ SOLD! :)

"Dotty" dress
This bright polka dot vintage dress has buttons in the front and comes with a matching fabric cord as a belt (the red belt in the photo is not included). There is no information what the dress is made of, but I assume that it is polyester. The dress has been shortened by me, it's such a pretty and airy piece for summer and can perfectly be combine with matching shoes and a cute bag. :)
>>> 30€ SOLD! :)

"Blue Monday" dress
This one is a rather simple floral dress with a really simple shape and a small pocket on the front side. It comes with a matching cord which can again be used as a belt. The dress has been shortened by me and was made in Honduras, consisting of 55% cotton and 45% polyester.
>>> 15€ SOLD! :)

"Back to the 70s" dress
Being my first handmade dress ever, this one has been sewn last year and is made of 70s (?) fabric I found in a thrift store. This dress was part of a blog series about what to make out of vintage fabric, so this is really special to me. I only give it away because of two reasons: it's way too big for me and the colors do not really mach my clothes' color concept. :) The dress comes without the belt and I assume that the fabric is made of rayon. Wash at 30°.
>>> 30€ SOLD! :)

"Spring Flower" skirt
This skirt was one of the first pieces of clothing I have ever sewn myself. It is made of pretty floral cotton fabric and a polyester lining. The upper ending of the skirt is elastic so that you can either wear it at the hip or tight.
>>> 25€ SOLD! :)

Let me know if there are questions. All other details are provided above. :)

Thrifting treasures.

As most of you know, I totally love everything vintage, not at least pretty dishes. When I came across these plates, the bowl, the cute cup and the vase some time ago, I simply couldn't resist and had to take them with me. :)
Most of all, I like white dishes, because they create a perfect contrast to our turquoise kitchen table, so that's also why I had to take those treasures with me.
Moreover, I'm a sucker for floral prints, another reason I immediately had a crush on those vintage beauties! :)
Do you love thrifting as much as I do? :)
When taking home second hand stuff with me, nor matter if vintage or not, I always wonder about those thing's past live and imagine them with their past owner. :)

Lu Loves Indie Labels - Olenka Vintage

Hey everyone, today I want to introduce and welcome my latest sponsor, Alex of Olenka Vintage!

A short time ago, I have invited her to advertise on my blog, because I love her shop on DaWanda in which she sells carefully chosen vintage and second hand pieces of clothing. Last year, I found her shop while I was searching for vintage dresses on DaWanda and since then, I have bought three of her awesome dresses which now belong to my favorite ones in my wardrobe (one can be seen here, another one can be seen here, worn by Stef of Magnoliaelectric during out vintage clothing shoot). Even my mama has bought something pretty in Alex' shop. :)

When Stef, Stefanie and I started our "How to Shop and Style Vintage Clothes" series last summer, I sent Alex a mail so that she could see what her customers do with her clothes and then I thought it would be a good idea to invite her as a sponsor, because I REALLY like her shop, her clothes and the overall look of Olenka Vintage and now I can happily welcome her here! :)

Alex answered me a few questions in order to let you know more about her shop and the idea behind it and I hope that some of you will fall as much in love with her range of clothes as I did. :)

Alex, the young woman behing the shop Olenka Vintage (Olenka comes from the Polish belittlement for Alexandra), is 29 years old, has a five year old son and lives in Heidelberg. When I asked her how she developed the idea to open her own DaWanda shop, she told me that she has been in India to find out about what she wanted to do in the future, she has gone there after she had just finished her studies (Sociology and Management Studies). Afterwards, she decided to make something she likes and with which she could earn money, because she had plenty of time (applying for and getting a job took her longer than she had expected) and because she doesn't like doing nothing at all.

She has always been a big fan of vintage things and at this time, she got to know a wholesaler who then started providing her with awesome vintage clothes and from who she still gets all the awesome, unique pieces you can find in her shop. At about the same time, Alex discovered DaWanda and she was excited about the idea to pass on the clothes which she liked so much to other women, because she could hardly keep and wear them all by herself. :) This way, Alex is able to find fulfilment in her passion for special pieces of clothing without having to fear that her wardrobe could explode.

Concerning the time when she started her little business with vintage clothes, Alex told me that in September 2010, about two years ago, she has started to take photos in her living-room and has listed the first items on DaWanda. Then, she soon realized that her customers like and appreciate the clothes she chooses and that's what made her really happy. Now she shares a small studio with a band where she takes her photos and where she stores her clothes. Only a short time ago she sold her 1000th piece of clothing which makes her really happy (congratulations!! :)).

Olenka Vintage now takes a lot of time. Alex has stayed self-employed and does the marketing for an art agency. What is more, she also does the accountancy for a bike store and even holds workshops for kids in a library. As you can see, she carries out various, slightly different jobs (what she totally likes) and she also has her son with whom the day is filled out until the evenings.

Her love for vintage - the really old, original things - has always been a part of Alex' life. As she told me, she has always had a certain nostalgia for the 60s and 70s, although she's only 29. She has grown up with the music of this time and at the age of 16, she bought her first leather coat from the 70s on a flea market. What Alex currently is excited about are the 80s and 90s.
 Because she is someone who cares a lot about sustainability and who has an aweness for ecological concerns, it was bad for her to know that a huge part of all second hand clothes are simply turned into cleaning rags by the industry and she wanted to save those precious pieces in order to use things in a sustainable way. She can't stand the thought that things are thrown away and destroyed, although they still completely fulfil their function. Not only because of this she's happy about the current vintage trend! What is more, Alex also likes that by means of shopping used clothes, one can still afford a certain quality standard which one maybe couldn't afford when buying completely new clothes.
 After getting to know all those things about Alex, her shop and the concept behind it, I even love it more! :)
I hope you're gonna have a look at all the amazing things she offers, too! I check out her shop on a regular basis and each time I'm fascinated by all the new, unique pieces. I love when clothes have been worn before and can tell a story and I always imagine how the previous owner might have been like and to which occasions those clothes have already been worn! :)

Those two pieces are some of Alex's favorite items in her shop (too bad that they have already been sold :)). The mini dress is a designer piece from Yvette Paris, made of golden velvet fabric with a paisley pattern.)

Thanks again for letting us know more about you and your shop, dear Alex! :)

One Piece of Fabric, Three Projects: What We Made.

Hello! :) A few days ago I posted about the idea 'One Piece of Fabric, Three Projects' on which Laura of Tagträumerin, Stefanie of Squeaky Swing and I have been working. We found an awesome piece of vintage fabric, each one of us kept 2 meters and we all sewed something different. :)
So here you can see all of our three projects at once, each made with lots of love, using this super pretty and colorful piece of fabric! :)
As I have already written quite often, I love projects with fellow bloggers and it was lots of fun working on this one. Stefanie wrote that this fabric will always remind us of each other and I couldn't agree more: when wearing my new, handmade dress, I will always think of those two great girls and the awesome time we spent with each other this summer! :)
Wow, this is Laura's beautiful skirt! It's a paperbag waist skirt and she did not only share her colorful outfit with her skirt, but also a detailed and really good tutorial for how to sew such a skirt oneself! (In case you forgot or didn't even now, Laura is not only a tailor, but she also studies fashion design and I'm always impressed by her sewing skills and sense for fashion... :))

Next, Stefanie has sewn a super pretty pillow case to use it for home decor purposes. Doesn't it look great in that beautiful chair with the romantic blanket? She has also shared a tutorial for how to make it, there are super easy and perfectly understandable step-by-step instructions so that even sewing beginners can make such a pretty pillow case themselves! :)

And here's finally what I have sewn, a super easy dress (I took the cut of a vintage dress and some of you asked me to provide a pattern, I hope I'll find some time for it, soon! :)) which I showed you in an outfit post a few days ago and combined it with matching accessories. :) This was lots of fun and I miss those two talented girls a lot!

Did you like what we turned this pretty vintage fabric into? :) What would you have done with it? ;) I still have got a little bit left (too sad that it's not enough to sew such a pillow case like Stefanie or such a great skirt like Laura), maybe I'll make a little neckerchief or a pouch. :)
Thanks for reading and happy weekend!

What I Wore // One Piece of Fabric, Three Projects.

Dress: handmade by me :)
Leggings: cotton on
Handbag: pieces
Boots: zara
Belt: H&M (?)
Earrings: unknowm
Feather ring and cardigan: H&M
Bracelet: from my mother

Hello everyone, happy Wednesday! So this is my second post for our little series "One piece of fabric, three projects". As I have already told you, Laura of Tagträumerin, Stefanie of Squeaky Swing and I found an awesome piece of vintage fabric while we were second hand shopping and we decided to sew three different projects. :)
I took another vintage dress that I own and copied its cut and made myself a super easy sewing pattern. It's a rather simple dress, not too complicated, and this is just perfect for me, because it is the first dress I have ever made myself! :)
I love 'our' fabric soooo much, the colors are perfect for late summer and for fall and I love that one can combine the dress with anything whose color is in the dress itself. :)

I decided to wear a pair of mustard leggings and brown accessories with the dress, because I'm in the mood for fall and I decided to take the outfit photos in the forest. :) It was a perfect Sunday and I felt totally comfortable in this dress (eeeeks, so proud that it's handmade!!). Can't wait to sew another dress, soon! :)
So here's my outfit, I took some photos with and without my cardigan so that you can see every detail. :)
How do you like the outfit and the dress itself? :)
Yesterday Laura already posted photos of her awesome paperbag waist skirt and tomorrow Stefanie will show you her project, so make sure to check out their blogs! :)
