DaWanda Relaunch Video featuring Flo and Mogli!

Hellooooo! :) Awwww, I'm so excited that I can finally post this video!! DaWanda has just relaunched a new website with a new design and for this reason, a relaunch spot has been made. The video shows what's new on DaWanda and maybe you're gonna recognize someone in the spot... :) Eeeeks, Flo and Mogli are so damn cute in the video and I totally love how the spot has turned out! :) We filmed the last part in Anja's family's beautiful garden and it was lots of fun!
Mogli was too cute to be true and he had lots of fun! He got some colorful foam rubber spots and was washed with doggie shampoo. No worries, of course everything has been done voluntarily and the most important thing was that Mogli felt comfortable during the shooting. Since he loves attention and is used to being among many people, this was quite easy and we were having a funny afternoon!

How To Make Pizza With Mac And Cheese (rajiv tiwari)

Ingredients:

* ? pound of dried rotini
* Olive oil cooking spray
* 6 slices of quality bacon for topping
* 2 tablespoons of butter
* 1 white onion, finely chopped
* 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
* Salt to taste
* Freshly ground black pepper to taste
* 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
* 2 cups of milk
* 2 cups of Cheddar cheese, grated
* 1 cup of mozzarella, grated
* 1 cup of breadcrumbs
* ? cup Parmesan cheese
* 3 tablespoons of chopped fresh chives
* 1 tablespoon of olive oil
* 1 store-bought pizza dough, rolled and ready

Directions:

1. Start off your pizza recipe by preheating the oven to 450 degrees F.

2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the rotini in it till al dente.

3. Drain the pasta for later in the pizza recipe and sprinkle it with olive oil cooking spray. Make sure it's all well coated and keep it aside.

4. Keep a large pan over a medium flame and cook the bacon until crispy for the topping of the pizza recipe.

5. Remove and set it aside. If you want to know how to make pizza with flavour, keep a little of the bacon drippings and add in the butter.


6. Add the onions, garlic and season with salt and pepper. Make sure you saut? until the onions become translucent. Reduce the flame to medium-low and slowly stir in the flour.

7. Make sure it coats the onions and garlic and continue to cook for about 5 minutes. Whisk in the milk until you have a thick sauce. Make sure it's just right for a perfect pizza recipe.

8. Break the bacon and add some to the sauce. Add in the Cheddar and mozzarella and turn the flame to low.

9. Add in the pasta and stir well. Make sure it stays warm for the pizza recipe.

10. In a separate bowl mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan, chives and olive oil and remaining bacon. Make sure it mixes well.

11. Spray the dough for the pizza recipe with the olive oil spray and place into the oven for around 7 minutes.

12. Remove the pizza recipe from the oven and set down. Spread the mac and cheese on the pizza.

13. Drizzle and sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture on the macaroni and cheese and bake for 10 minutes.

14. Remove from the oven and let stand for 5-10 minutes.

Lessons learnt and apartment update!

The first and most important rule is that Things do go wrong and they WILL. No matter how well the project was planned. Execution is a totally different ball game.

A few things I have learnt during the new apartment interiors process -

* Everything that you want to change, fix, break, restructure is mostly possible. If your contractor/designer/carpenter says otherwise, it could be because he doesn't want the additional headache, too much risk involved, lack of expertise, it costs too much money (which should be a headache for you not your designer or contractor). Only a very small number of exceptions exist to this almost-fact.

* Double check everything before it gets executed. The design does go through changes while it passes from the designer's table to the supervisor to the carpenter who works on it! So make sure you tell the carpenter or handyman to show a rough draft of what he has understood or show the assembled piece before fixing it finally. Trust me this will go a long way to help avoid major blunders.

* We Indians as a generic trait have a tendency to nod our heads and say yes to everything. Then later on we actually ponder over whether the task can be done or not. And we also have a tendency to hide things from the client till the end. The husband says, If something goes wrong, then a project coordinator should either fix it OR if it cannot be fixed and will cause a delay then the client should be informed. Most of the contractors/carpenter teams don't do either. They let the project linger on and complete it on its own pace. Keep an eye out for this. And if possible make your own schedule with dates of starting and completion and track the work as per that, raising a red flag when needed.

* Electrical points - If you have the option of changing electrical points and choosing where you want them then do it. Do it before you start the actual wood work - cupboards, bookshelves etc. Think of where would you want reading lights to be fixed, lamps to be kept with respect to beds and bedside tables. I personally like to have switches and a plug point next to the bed on both sides. The getting out-of-bed to switch the light off is one thing I don't like. Charging mobile phones or laptops is also convenient when you have a plug point next to your bed.

* Don't forget the geyser in the kitchen for those oh-so-cold winter days. Your house help is going to be thankful!

* Thinking of buying a Home theater system at some point of time in the future? Get the points for speakers and the system in place. The points can be done and left and used later.

* Have a terrace or balcony - make sure you have enough light and plug points for all those barbecue and late night parties.

Updates from the new apartment -
We are at a stage where the electricals in the new apartment have mostly been completed. The carpentry for the wood work - wardrobes, bookshelf, study desk, bar unit and a few other storage shelves in the kid's room are mostly done. Now the surface finishing work shall start - duco, veneer polishing, laminate fixing etc. Another 15 to 20 days to go.

Do you know how to make a delicious vegetarian appetizer for your weekend party? (Adrian Johnson Jr.)

This weekend you would be having a small party at your place and you also invited your best friend. But this has also made you a little tensed, as your best friend is now vegetarian. Your mother being a seasoned cook, shares with you her delicious vegetarian appetizer recipe; it is stuffed mushrooms.

How do you prepare this vegetarian appetizer?

You are aware that your friend loves mushrooms. This delicious appetizer has been very popular in the various parties that your mother had arranged in her home. The basic ingredients needed to prepare stuffed mushrooms are:
Whole mushrooms: 12
Any type of vegetable oil: 1 tbs
Finely chopped garlic: 1 tbs
Fresh Parmesan cheese: ? cup
Ground pepper: ? teaspoon
Onion powder: ? teaspoon
Ground cayenne pepper: ? teaspoon

Below is the preparation process to make stuffed mushrooms appetizer.

Before you start preparing the delicious appetizer you have to clean the mushrooms properly with a damp towel. Do not directly wash the mushrooms with water, as their texture would get softened and the whole taste of the appetizer would be spoilt.
Once cleaned, break and remove the stems of the mushrooms. Now chop the stem portion of the mushrooms finely, discarding any rough ends.
Prepare a baking tray and spray it lightly with cooking oil. Then preheat the oven to around 350 F.

In a skillet heat oil till heat reaches medium temperature. Now in the heated skillet add the finely chopped garlic and the chopped mushroom stem portions. Your mother told you that at this stage, your kitchen would now be filled with aroma of this delicious appetizer when the mushrooms are being fried. You should take care and prevent the garlic from burning. Otherwise, the burnt garlic would add bitterness to the appetizer and your hard work would go in vain.

Once the mushrooms have been properly fried and the moisture has been removed from them you can leave them to cool off to room temperature.
Now in a clean glass bowl, add the fried mushroom and garlic mixture. In the same mixture add the other ingredients, which would make the appetizer delicious. These are parmesan cheese, black and cayenne pepper and onion powder. Blend all the ingredients well and the stuffing mixture should have a thick consistency.
Now with a small spoon, add the mushroom stuffing gently to the crown of the mushrooms.
Place the stuffed mushrooms gently on the baking tray. You do not want to break the mushrooms and destroy the presentation of this delicious appetizer.
In the preheated oven, the stuffed mushroom appetizer is baked for around twenty minutes.
The stuffed mushrooms are cooked until the cheese has melted.
That is how you prepare this vegetarian appetizer for your friend. At the end of the day, this will become a hit food and you promise to your guests, that you would make more of these stuffed mushrooms on the next party. Avoiding fat entirely in your diet isn't necessarily a good idea. However, reducing consumption of "bad" fats through better choices can make substantial improvements in your health. Some of the following tips can help. Exercise may not be enough when you need to burn belly fat. Belly fat is the toughest fat to lose on your body. A variety of things influence belly fat, including stress. Stress is one of the biggest factors, but some foods you eat increase this type of fat as well. Selecting and Storing Fruit to Use In Summer Party Food Recipes (Twistson Snacks)

One thing we most look forward to in the summer is eating fresh seasonal foods, especially fruit. The colors, textures, and flavors of these juicy sweet goodies can make your summer party food recipes even better. But knowing how to select and store fruits properly can have some people scratching their heads.

While summer fruits can be eaten as is, used in salads, or to make smoothies, salsas, pies and tarts, their limited "shelf life" can be tricky. We pulled together a guide on selecting and storing these gems and have included some great party snack food recipes using fruit.

Let's take a look at the more popular, or common summer fruit choices. While most fruits are available year-round thanks to global shipping, when describing peak availability and freshness, summer fruits are those that are considered 'in season' from mid-June to late September.

Blackberries: Choose berries that are firm and plump, then store at room temperature or refrigerate in a single layer. These need to be used within a day or two. Wash when ready to eat.

Cherries: The stems should be flexible and green. The fruit should not have any splits, or any soft spots. They can keep at room temperature for several days, but will last longer when refrigerated. Do not remove the stems, as this will cause rapid deterioration.

Honeydew melon: Look for smooth green-ish skin and the absence of bruises. If the melon is not quite ripe, keep it in a paper bag at room temperature for 2-3 days. Once ripe, wrap in plastic and refrigerate for up to 5 days.

Mangoes: Mangoes should have a yellow- red skin and should yield a bit when pressed. The smaller ones are typically better. Store mangoes at room temperature.

Peaches: These should have a noticeable sweet scent. Select peaches that have some give, but are not mushy or hard. Leave the soft or bruised ones alone. They can keep at room temperature for a few days or for longer in the refrigerator.


Strawberries: Pick strawberries that have a good red color and the green stems in place. The smaller ones tend to have much better flavor. Keep them refrigerated in a single layer for up to two days.

Watermelon: A ripe watermelon will give a bit to pressure at the stem end and will have a sweet scent. Store these at room temperature for 2-3 days, but refrigerate after cutting.

Here are some simple party food recipes using fruit:

Mango-Peach Salsa

2 peaches peeled & diced

1 mango peeled & diced

1/2 cup chopped red onion

1 jalapeno, seeded, finely chopped

1 tsp fresh lime juice

1 Tbs vegetable oil

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Salt and pepper

Toss peaches, mango, onions, jalapeno, lime juice, olive oil and cilantro together. Season with salt and pepper and refrigerate at least one hour before serving.

Chicken Salad with grapes

1 ? pound chicken tenders

5 cups water

1 ? cups chicken broth

1/3 cup plain yogurt

1/3 cup mayonnaise

1 Tbs Dijon Mustard

1 cup seedless grapes

1 Tbs dried tarragon

Salt and pepper

Boil chicken tenders in water and broth, then dice.

Cut grapes in halves or quarters according to preference

Combine mayonnaise and yogurt, Dijon mustard, tarragon, salt, and pepper.

Add chicken and grapes

Serve on croissants or rolls.

* 1 tablespoons chopped pickled jalapenos

Directions:

1. How to make the dough for the pizza recipe: Stir together water, yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl and wait till all yeast has dissolved.

2. Add in the whole-wheat flour, all-purpose flour and cornmeal, stirring well until the dough for the pizza recipe mixes well.

3. Put the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic.

4. Put the dough for the pizza recipe in an oiled bowl and coat well. Cover and keep aside for an hour, when dough size doubles.

6. Preheat your grill to a low setting to cook the pizza recipe.

8. Sprinkle cornmeal on a large baking sheet for the pizza recipe. Put the pizza base on the baking sheet, making sure the bottom of the dough for the pizza recipe is completely coated with cornmeal.

9. Slide the crust onto the grill and close the lid. Cook until lightly browned, 3 to 4 minutes.

10. Flip the base for the pizza recipe and spread the bean mixture on the crust.

11. Quickly add a nice layer of cheese, tomatoes, scallions, olives and pickled jalapenos.

12. Close the lid again and grill the pizza recipe until the cheese has melted and the bottom of the crust has browned, about 8 minutes.

13. Your pizza recipe is ready to be eaten! Enjoy with a refreshing drink on a sunny day and just relax!

Ingredients Nutrition
1 tbs olive oil
1 large brown onion, halved, finely chopped

1 x 400g can diced Italian tomatoes
375ml (1 1/2 cups) fish stock
Pinch of saffron threads
1 dried bay leaf
2 x 5cm strips lemon rind
1kg skinless fish fillets cut into 3cm pieces
1/2 cup finely shredded fresh basil
Freshly ground black pepper

Method Notes
Step 1
Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and capsicum and cook, stirring, for 10 minutes or until onion softens slightly. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until aromatic.
Step 2
Add the tomato, fish stock, saffron, bay leaf and lemon rind. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes or until soup thickens slightly.
Step 3
Add the fish and cook, uncovered, for 5 minutes or until fish is just cooked.
Step 4
Ladle the soup among serving bowls. Sprinkle with basil and season with pepper. Serve immediately.

Ingredients:

* ? pound of angel hair pasta
* 6 ounces fresh asparagus, rinsed and sliced
* 2 extra-large, free-range eggs
* 2 ounces of bacon, diced
* 2 cloves of garlic, minced finely

* ? large handful Italian parsley, finely chopped
* Salt to taste
* Pepper to taste
* Shaved Parmesan cheese

Directions

1. Start off your pasta recipe by adding salt to nice, large pot of water and bring it to a boil.

2. On another medium flame, put a large non-stick skillet. Add in the bacon and cook for about for around 4-5 minutes till it's nice and crispy for your pasta recipe.

3. Carefully add in garlic and cook for a little longer minute more.

4. Remove bacon and garlic from the pan with and drain off some fat if required, keeping about 1 tablespoon aside for later in the pasta recipe.

5. Crack the egg into the pan and fry in the bacon fat, sunny side up.

6. Remove to a plate when the egg is firm throughout, but the yolk is still runny, which should take 2-3 minutes. Make sure it's done just right for the pasta recipe. Cover it loosely with foil to keep warm. Take the pan off the heat but do not clean the bacon fat off it.


7. When the water boils, add the asparagus and pasta and cook well till al dente as the package says. Make sure your pasta cooks well but doesn't overcook or your pasta recipe won't taste nearly as good.

8. Drain the pasta and asparagus, reserving 1 cup of cooking liquid for later in the pasta recipe.

9. Put the pan back on to a medium flame.

10. Once hot, pour in the cream and bring it to a simmer. Make sure your scrape up all the remaining brown bits off the pan.

11. Throw in the drained pasta and asparagus and slowly pour in the reserved cooking liquid and toss well to coat the pasta recipe evenly.

12. Add in the bacon mixture and season with salt and pepper according to your taste.

13. Toss and mix well. Serve generously on two plates and top with shaved parmesan cheese and reserved fried egg.

14. Serve the pasta recipe when hot to enjoy it the best.

A Basic Pasta Recipe - The Best Macaroni And Cheese (rajiv tiwari)

Ingredients:

* 1 ? cups cubed peeled butternut squash
* ? cups low sodium chicken broth
* ? cups fat-free milk
* 1 garlic cloves, peeled
* 1 tablespoons plain, flavourless yogurt
* Salt to taste
* Freshly ground black pepper to taste
* ? cups Gruy?re cheese, shredded
* ? cup pecorino Romano cheese, grated
* 4 tablespoons fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, finely grated
* ? pound uncooked Cavatappi
* Cooking spray oil
* ? teaspoon olive oil
* ? cup breadcrumbs
* 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped

Directions:

1. Start your pasta recipe by preheating your oven to 190? C.

2. Mix the squash, broth, milk, and garlic in a medium saucepan and stir well.

3. Bring the mixture to a boil over a high flame for the sauce of the pasta recipe. As soon as the sauce starts boiling, reduce the flame to a medium and continue cooking on a simmer till squash is tender and cooked when pierced. Remove the pan from the flame and keep it aside for the pasta recipe.

4. Add the squash mixture you've made to a blender or food processor.

5. Season the mixture with salt and pepper according to your taste and add yogurt. Put the the lid on the blender, leaving the centre piece off as the mixture is hot. Put a clean kitchen towel over opening and blend the sauce for the pasta recipe until you have a smooth consistency.


6. Add the sauce to a bowl and carefully stir in Gruy?re, pecorino Romano and 1 tablespoon of Parmigiano-Reggiano. Stir very well till it's combined for the pasta recipe.

7. Bring a large pot of water to boil and salt it generously. Cook the pasta in it till al dente mentioned on the package.

8. Add pasta to the sauce you've made and stir very well until mixed thoroughly for a perfect pasta recipe.

9. Spread mixture evenly into a baking dish that you've coated with cooking spray.

10. Heat the olive oil in a medium pan and keep it over a medium flame. Add in the breadcrumbs and cook the mixture until it's a nice golden brown. Remove from the flame and stir in remaining Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese to add a nice flavour to the pasta recipe. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the hot pasta mixture. Add a light layer of cooking spray on top as well.

11. Bake at 190? C for until the pasta recipe is nice and bubble.

12. Garnish with parsley and serve your pasta recipe when hot for the tastiest experience!

11. Cover with foil and bake 40 minutes, then uncover and bake 10-15 min more

1 can sweetened condensed milk

3 cups of chocolate chips

Directions:

In a small pot, melt the chocolate chips, butter and condensed milk on low heat. Continue to stir the mixture to avoid burning the chocolate.

In a gallon sized bag, crush 1 cup of SweetSticks

After the mixture has completely melted, place in a greased 9 X 13 pan. Arrange the crushed SweetSticks on Top and place in the refrigerator to cool.

Learn How To Make Pasta With Delicious Egg Noodles (rajiv tiwari)

Try out this pasta recipe in your own kitchen for a yummy home-cooked meal. Everyone loves this Italian dish and there's just no way you could go wrong. If you know how to make pasta, you got an easy and tasty meal at hand whenever you want!

Ingredients:

* 1 ? tablespoons butter
* ? small onion, finely diced
* ? cup fresh breadcrumbs from crumbling slightly stale white bread
* 6 ounces wide egg noodles
* 1/3 cup chicken broth

* 1/3 cup half and half
* ? lemon's juice
* ? lemon's zest
* Salt to taste
* Freshly ground pepper to taste
* Parsley, finely chopped
* Parmesan, grated

Directions:

1. Put your pasta bowls in an oven to warm slightly while you prepare the pasta recipe as the cream sauce tastes much better in nice, warm bowls.

2. Start your pasta recipe by bringing a large pot of water to a boil adding a very generous amount of salt to it.

3. Put a separate pan over a medium flame and melt 2/3 the butter in it. Saut? the onions well and keep cooking till it turns soft and slightly golden for the pasta recipe.

4. Meanwhile melt the remaining butter in a separate, small pan and fry the breadcrumbs over a medium flame till they're quite brown and crispy. Pour them into a bowl and keep it aside for the pasta recipe.

5. When the onions are almost cooked, put the noodles into the boiling salted water stir very well.

6. Wait for the onion to get cooked completely for the pasta recipe and add in the broth, ham, and pea.

7. Increase the flame and boil very well until the broth is reduced by about half. Stir in the half and half and continue to simmer the sauce. Add the lemon zest, juice, salt and pepper. Add a little salt and then taste the sauce for the pasta recipe and see if you need more.

8. Reduce the flame of the sauce way to low while you drain the pasta.

9. Stir in the pasta into the sauce, add in the parsley, and taste. If the seasoning of the pasta recipe is fine, then perfect. If not, add more salt or pepper or lemon juice according to taste.

10. Your pasta recipe is ready to be served.

11. When serving, pass around the bread crumbs and cheese to have along with your delicious pasta recipe.

A Shell Pasta Recipe With Greens To Make Your Day (rajiv tiwari)

Shell pasta is one of the most delicious pasta recipes to eat and one of the most fun to look at. When you try out this dish in your own kitchen, you'll realise that cooking something so fancy could never have been thought to be so easy. Enjoy the flavour, experiment with the ingredients and cook this pasta recipe for any meal!

Ingredients:

* 1/2 pound Shell pasta
* Vegetable oil, for frying
* 1 cup drained canned chickpeas, patted dry
* Pinch of ground cumin
* Pinch of ground coriander
* Salt to taste
* Freshly ground black pepper to taste
* ? cup extra-virgin olive oil
* 4 clove garlic, thinly sliced
* ? teaspoon crushed red pepper
* 1 cup grape tomatoes, halved
* ? pound Swiss chard, stemmed and leaves coarsely chopped
* 4 ounce fresh mozzarella, cut into ? inch cubes
* 8 large basil leaves, torn

Directions:

1. Start your pasta recipe by bringing a large pot of salted water to boil. Cook the shell pasta until al dente. Drain and make sure you reserve ? cup of the cooking water.

2. Meanwhile, in a medium, deep pan, heat ? inch of vegetable oil until shimmering.


3. Add in the chickpeas and cook over a high flame until nice and crisp for the pasta recipe. Transfer them to a plate and put a paper towel on top to soak the excess oil. Sprinkle with the cumin and coriander, and season with salt and black pepper according to your taste.

4. Clean the pan off the oil and add in the olive oil, garlic, and crushed red pepper for the pasta recipe.

5. Cook over a moderately high flame until fragrant. Add in the tomatoes and cook until softened, 3 minutes. Stir in the chard and cook, constantly stirring, until it's wilted. Add the salt and black pepper to season your pasta recipe.

6. Add in the pasta and reserved cooking water to the skillet and cook it over a moderate flame. Keep stirring the pasta recipe to mix well.

7. Add in the mozzarella and basil and toss the pasta recipe again.

8. Spoon the pasta recipe into bowls and sprinkle generously with the chickpeas and serve.

Your pasta recipe is ready to be enjoyed by one and all. Whether you're cooking for a party or for just a relaxed, family meal - this dish is perfect for it all!

Party Finger Foods - Easier on You and Your Guests (John Wm. Macy's CheeseSticks)

One of the strongest trends in food and eating this year is party finger foods. The bite-sized delights are fun and easy to prepare, and are a simple way for guests to enjoy a nibble. Forget the messy dips and sauces and no need to hassle with plates and forks.

There are those who track food trends and eating styles. IFT says 5 of the best-selling new foods this year were bite-sized or hand-held. So whether you determine your menu based on keeping up with trends, or you simply want easy party food, anything you can pop into your mouth in a bite or two should be on your list.

Let's be straight, we aren't suggesting a table full of cheese and crackers. There are a variety of quick appetizers that fit the bill. From baked goodies to rolled tidbits, think about the spectrum of hot and cold, colors that invite, and a range of ingredients including vegetables, meats and seafood, and pastries.

There are also larger dishes that can be shrunken to bite-sized without losing too much in translation.

First a few suggestions. Invest in mini muffin tins. You can create party finger foods that are the perfect size and easy to bake.

Try making mini bite-sized tacos using wonton wrappers, chopped shrimp, ground beef, or even veggie ground round, bake in the mini tins, then top with a small dollop of sour cream, salsa, or even guacamole.


Fill the tins with separated biscuit dough to create a cup, then fill with chopped veggies and cheese, or add sprinkles of bacon or pieces of diced chicken.

If you do plan to go the cracker route, think of something interesting for a topper. If you use cheese, spread some hot or sweet jelly on top or a dried apricot or date. Use smoked salmon, a bit of cream cheese and a caper. Little mini meals make great, quick appetizers.

Presentation is always a key to success. Select beautiful platters that look great as the party finger food are snapped up. Garnish the plates with flowers, herbs, or other fun items. You can easily spread the dishes around the room for people to nibble wherever they are. Be sure to keep napkins nearby, but that's all you'll need!

Selecting and Storing Fruit to Use In Summer Party Food Recipes (Twistson Snacks)

One thing we most look forward to in the summer is eating fresh seasonal foods, especially fruit. The colors, textures, and flavors of these juicy sweet goodies can make your summer party food recipes even better. But knowing how to select and store fruits properly can have some people scratching their heads.

While summer fruits can be eaten as is, used in salads, or to make smoothies, salsas, pies and tarts, their limited "shelf life" can be tricky. We pulled together a guide on selecting and storing these gems and have included some great party snack food recipes using fruit.

Let's take a look at the more popular, or common summer fruit choices. While most fruits are available year-round thanks to global shipping, when describing peak availability and freshness, summer fruits are those that are considered 'in season' from mid-June to late September.

Blackberries: Choose berries that are firm and plump, then store at room temperature or refrigerate in a single layer. These need to be used within a day or two. Wash when ready to eat.

Cherries: The stems should be flexible and green. The fruit should not have any splits, or any soft spots. They can keep at room temperature for several days, but will last longer when refrigerated. Do not remove the stems, as this will cause rapid deterioration.

Honeydew melon: Look for smooth green-ish skin and the absence of bruises. If the melon is not quite ripe, keep it in a paper bag at room temperature for 2-3 days. Once ripe, wrap in plastic and refrigerate for up to 5 days.

Mangoes: Mangoes should have a yellow- red skin and should yield a bit when pressed. The smaller ones are typically better. Store mangoes at room temperature.

Peaches: These should have a noticeable sweet scent. Select peaches that have some give, but are not mushy or hard. Leave the soft or bruised ones alone. They can keep at room temperature for a few days or for longer in the refrigerator.


Strawberries: Pick strawberries that have a good red color and the green stems in place. The smaller ones tend to have much better flavor. Keep them refrigerated in a single layer for up to two days.

Watermelon: A ripe watermelon will give a bit to pressure at the stem end and will have a sweet scent. Store these at room temperature for 2-3 days, but refrigerate after cutting.

Here are some simple party food recipes using fruit:

Mango-Peach Salsa

2 peaches peeled & diced

1 mango peeled & diced

1/2 cup chopped red onion

1 jalapeno, seeded, finely chopped

1 tsp fresh lime juice

1 Tbs vegetable oil

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Salt and pepper

Toss peaches, mango, onions, jalapeno, lime juice, olive oil and cilantro together. Season with salt and pepper and refrigerate at least one hour before serving.

Chicken Salad with grapes

1 ? pound chicken tenders

5 cups water

1 ? cups chicken broth

1/3 cup plain yogurt

1/3 cup mayonnaise

1 Tbs Dijon Mustard

1 cup seedless grapes

1 Tbs dried tarragon

Salt and pepper

Boil chicken tenders in water and broth, then dice.

Cut grapes in halves or quarters according to preference

Combine mayonnaise and yogurt, Dijon mustard, tarragon, salt, and pepper.

Add chicken and grapes

Serve on croissants or rolls.

How To Make Pasta With Lemon And Broccoli (rajiv tiwari)

Ingredients:

* 6 ounces dried pasta shapes in variety, such as fusilli, penne, shell, etc.
* 2 small, boneless chicken breasts
* Salt to taste
* Freshly ground pepper
* 2 tablespoons butter
* 1 tablespoon olive oil
* 1 ? cloves garlic, smashed through a garlic press
* ? large or 1 small bunch broccoli, stems and florets cut into small pieces
* ? cup chicken broth
* Juice of ? lemon
* Zest of ? lemon
* ? cup walnuts, chopped and toasted at 180? C for 2-4 minutes
* ? cup freshly grated parmesan cheese, plus extra for serving

Directions:

1. Start your pasta recipe by bringing a large pot of water to a boil and salting it generously. Cook the pasta till al dente to have pasta noodles of a perfect consistency. Drain it and put it to the pot, adding 1 ? tablespoons of butter on top.

2. Half way through cooking the pasta, start patting the chicken dry with a clean kitchen towel for the pasta recipe.

3. Season the chicken on all sides with salt and pepper. In a very large pan, put the olive oil and remaining ? tablespoon of butter and keep over a medium flame. Cook until completely melted and foamy and then add the chicken. Saut? brown and cooked through for the pasta recipe. Cook the chicken over a low flame to avoid burning it.


4. Remove the chicken from the pan and put on to a cutting board and cut into thin slices for later in the pasta recipe.

5. Keeping the flame low, add the garlic to the same pan that you cooked the chicken in. Keep stirring for a little while till the garlic is fragrant but not brown.

6. Add the broccoli, the broth and salt to taste for the sauce of the pasta recipe. Keep stirring to dissolve the browned bits on the bottom of the pan.

7. Cover the pan and turn the flame to medium. Keep cooking until the broccoli is just tender but not overcooked.

8. Add the chicken to the pan as well as lemon juice, zest, walnuts and the buttered pasta. Stir thoroughly to mix the pasta recipe completely.

9. The pasta recipe should be full of flavour and have a lemony zing. Add more seasoning according to your taste.

10. Add the parmesan cheese to the pasta recipe just before serving.

11. Your pasta recipe is ready to be enjoyed by all!

South Indian food-Spicy but healthy (lisa bay)

A typical meal from south India contains a lot of hot as well as non-spicy dishes, which are mainly veg. A lot of these dishes are a lot blended as well as consumed with boiled rice, which is a staple food of the people in south India.

This food comes in 5 slightly superimposing categories. Primarily are the dishes that are blended with rice; a variety of Sambar and the likes. The next are the side dishes that come with these kinds of blends. 3rd are the south Indian snacks and their side dishes; vadai, a variety of chutneys and the likes fit in to this category. The 4th category consists of the rich, sugary dishes that are served as desserts; Payasam, Kheer, Kesari and a plethora of sweets fit into this category. The 5th category consists of light meals. This consists of different kinds of idlis, different styles of upma, a variety of dosa etc. Preparations from this category are usually served for dinner as well as breakfast, but usually not during the lunchtime. South Indian cuisine mostly offers light breakfast and dinner, a wholesome lunch meal along with evening snacks, often served with tea or else coffee.

Food is usually categorized into six flavors - sweet, sour, salty, bitter, spicy and astringent and usual south Indian cuisine comprises all of these six flavors in every main meal you have. Every flavor has a balancing ability and putting in a few of each offers absolute nourishment, reduces hunger and balances the hunger and digestion.


Sweet (Milk, butter, sweet cream, ghee (clarified butter), wheat, rice, honey)
Sour (lemons, curd, citrus juicy fruits, tamarind)
Salty (Salt or pickles)
Bitter (Bitter gourd, greens of several sorts, fenugreek)
Spicy (Chili peppers, black pepper, mustard)
Astringent (turmeric, pulses, Beans, vegetables, cilantro)

South Indian Recipes are the only recipes that have 4 values. These are "flavors", "Healthy for body", "diversity" and "medical value".

The appreciation for popularizing this food everywhere in India goes to all south Indian restaurants. In fact, in north, any dosa restaurant is more famous than the restaurants serving the local north Indian food. These establishments provide cheap vegetarian breakfast dishes all through the day, all over the country.

Celebrate the Fourth with All American Appetizer Recipes (Twistson Snacks)

Mediterranean-style seafood soup

Ingredients Nutrition
1 tbs olive oil
1 large brown onion, halved, finely chopped
1 red capsicum, halved, deseeded, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, crushed
1 x 400g can diced Italian tomatoes
375ml (1 1/2 cups) fish stock
Pinch of saffron threads
1 dried bay leaf
2 x 5cm strips lemon rind
1kg skinless fish fillets cut into 3cm pieces
1/2 cup finely shredded fresh basil
Freshly ground black pepper

Method Notes
Step 1
Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and capsicum and cook, stirring, for 10 minutes or until onion softens slightly. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until aromatic.
Step 2
Add the tomato, fish stock, saffron, bay leaf and lemon rind. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes or until soup thickens slightly.
Step 3
Add the fish and cook, uncovered, for 5 minutes or until fish is just cooked.
Step 4
Ladle the soup among serving bowls. Sprinkle with basil and season with pepper. Serve immediately.

Recipe: Mediterrannean Summer Bagel.

Hello, hello! :) Here's the first little recipe from my summer picnic. Of course, this is no complicated cooking recipe, but rather meant as inspiration for a tasty picnic treat. :) As a savory snack, I made this delicious mediterrannean summer bagel and here's how you can make it, too. :)
You will need:
- Bagels (with sesame)
- Fresh rocket salad and fresh tomatoes
- Goat cheese in slices, parmesan cheese slices and herb cream cheese
- Pine nuts and salt and pepper

Cut your bagel, spread the herb cream cheese all over it, put some leaves of rocket salad onto it. Then, add slices of goat cheese and parmesan cheese, put some fresh tomatoes and pine nuts on top and add salt and pepper.
