Prismma is a design and decor magazine. It has 3 formats - a magazine, website and news blog. They have some beautiful home tours, decor tips and blogger show cases too.

From the far east

Here is my beautiful find from the Second to None Flea Market. Ahem! shall we please note the beautiful velvet(y), satin(y), vibrant blue box that it came in :) 

These are a set of 4 handle-less tea cups. I can use them for tea, sake or our very own filter coffee too. They'll keep my hands warm and senses pleased.

The lady who sold them to me had bought these from Temple Street in Hong Kong. Here is how they look on my console table.

Beautiful aren't they? I love the combination of red and green and the pretty oriental pattern. And the fact that they come with their own bases and lids. Different. Unique.

Here is how we enter home!!

Patty at Colours Dekor is having a Enchanting Entrances linky party this month. I decided to participate. I know I have just 3 days left to go.

The look changes every now and then.

The artifacts on this console table also keep changing depending on my mood and new stuff in the house ;)

These two are my latest additions. The tea light candle holder was gifted by mom and the ceramic plate by my sister.

The console table also holds some of my books and my favourite yellow pot!

Butterfly artwork in picture frame - Tutorial

Let the curtains rise!! [Drum roll please]
I was surfing around on one of the blogs on my blog roll - Blue Cricket Design and liked an idea where Becca uses a silhouette of birds across a range of products - to decorate a book cover, make a photo frame wall art and a canvas wall art. I was working on the bird canvas wall art when I decided to decorate the photo frame on my console table as a quick mini-project. So I chose some butterflies instead of birds.

I had this beautiful frame (gifted by a friend on Christmas some years back) and a very pretty Japanese scrapbook paper at home.

I googled for butterfly images and found some pretty ones.

I traced the images from a print out onto card stock paper  which is thicker and used that to trace onto the Japanese scrapbook paper. You can draw freehand if you are those talented kinds ;) I used a couple of different sizes of butterflies.

I used a thin permanent black marker to outline the images and then a thicker black one to fill them in. Once all the butterflies were done I coloured them with the thick marker once again to even out the colour and give it a thicker sheen.

And here is how the frame looks like -

I love it after the makeover and it looks great on my console table :)

The latest addition to my home...

... is this beautiful console table and a mirror.

You can see a glimpse of my mask wall in the mirror on the right edge. The mask wall in a separate post!

I think this console looks very similar to the 2nd one in this post. I love the colour, and the clean simple lines. I also love the fact that the console table has a mirror in the bottom half too.

I am still experimenting with the decor on the table so consider it work-in-progress for now.

And another favourite addition is this lovely YELLOW pot!! I wanted something bright that brings a pop of colour into the room. At the same time it should complement the room decor and colours.
Add a few gerberas and voila!!! I absolutely love this look. Bright peppy and cheerful :)

Console Tables - wish list!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we have started the hunt for a console table. I had this vision in my head since ages about having a console table in the entry way in my house. And finally in our current apartment (even though its not ours - but is a rental) there is the kind of space where a console table would look great.

So S and I did go out and look at a few tables last weekend. Liked a few and it got me thinking - If I had the choice what sort of console table would I really really want to have? Here are a few that got me drooling!

I want a console table with a mirror, absolutely! Mirrors make the room bigger and brighter and pretty too! So this one was an easy favourite -

I also have this bias towards semi circular or half consoles like the one below. I like the little bit of detailing on this and the fact that it has a lower slab - more opportunity to keep and show stuff!

This one is simple, clean and the colour is deep and choclaty - love that!

This one is from Pottery Barn. It is elegant and restrained. Love the green plant in the white holder. Isn't that so fresh and beautiful?

This one has got some storage too but what I love most about it is the small lamps on the console. The right lighting can do so much to your room and mood.

Well lets see what I finally end up with. I hope I find what I like or like what I find :)
