Celebrate the Fourth with All American Appetizer Recipes (Twistson Snacks)

When the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4th, 1776 it not only set in motion our path to establishing this great country, it also triggered an annual day of celebration for Americans for centuries to come. As you plan your holiday cookout, we encourage you to think healthy and to think all-American when choosing appetizer recipes.

Lighten Up

If you're planning a party for the fourth, you may be thinking red, white, and blue food. Or you may be headed down the traditional route of burgers and hot dogs on the grill. These are American traditions that certainly have a place in the celebration of liberty. But, if you want to liberate yourself from the usual, or to free yourself from the heavy calorie- laden party food and appetizer recipes, then we have some tips for you.

Keep it light so that you can participate in that sack race, or feel comfortable in that bathing suit you'll be wearing poolside for the cookout. Substitute healthy ingredients in some of your favorite recipes.

Altering favorites

Corn Dogs are a favorite, especially with kids. Try using a lean version of dog, like a turkey dog. Instead of frying, bake until the cornbread batter gets firm. You can cut them in pieces if you're looking for an appetizer recipe.

Potato salad doesn't need heavy mayonnaise; use a light mayo mixed with fat-free sour cream, then add some relish and seasoning to give it some punch.

Potato chips are typically fried in lots of oil. Try making your own. Cut thin slices of potatoes, brush with canola oil or even canola cooking spray, then bake.

Mini burgers, also known as sliders, are a great appetizer recipe. Shrink the standard All-American burger to something people can eat in a couple of bites. This gives you the flavor of this favorite cookout fare without all of the calories. Turkey-burgers are great for this recipe too. Simply grill, then pop on slider buns and let people dress their own.

Fruit skewers are a refreshing appetizer to serve in the heat of a summer cookout. You could also serve them as a healthy alternative to desserts like cheesecake or pie. Slide some blueberries, strawberries, and pineapple on long toothpicks and provide some vanilla yogurt for dipping.

Travel the country by offering some favorites from the 50 states. Here are some All-American eats from Delish you can choose from.

It may be the American way to over- indulges at a party, but you can enjoy the festivities on the 4th of July without feeling guilty the next day. Tweaking appetizer recipes, grilled favorites, and desserts so that they are a bit leaner and healthier provides a whole new sense of freedom.

Happy Independence Day!

Adding a Little Crunch to Your Brunch with Egg Muffins (John Wm. Macy's CheeseSticks)

The summer is the perfect time to have a brunch party. It is earlier in the day so the heat will not be unbearable and easy finger foods are a great way to keep things light and simple. For your next brunch party try this delicious recipe for Egg Muffins. Egg muffins combined with Cheese Crisps is the perfect gourmet snack for an afternoon with friends and mimosas.

These delicious and easy finger foods take about 45 minutes to prepare and bake. Another great thing about them is that they are low in fat and calories, but high in protein. This recipe makes enough for about six muffins, but the recipe can be doubled to accommodate more guests.

Ingredients:
4 Eggs
1/2 cup shredded cheese
1/4 cup Mushrooms
1/4 cup yellow peppers
1/4 cup onions
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup John Wm. Macy's Melting Romano CheeseCrips

Directions
1.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
2.Line a muffin tin with muffin cups and spray with olive oil.
3.In a separate bowl mix together eggs, cheese, mushrooms, yellow peppers, onions, salt and pepper.
4.Pour mixture to the halfway mark in the muffin cups.
5.Bake for 25 to 35 minutes.
6.Remove muffins from the oven. Wait to cool for about five minutes and sprinkle crushed cheese crisps on the top of each muffin.
7.Serve and enjoy!

The best thing about this easy finger food recipe is its ability to adapt to a variety of tastes and textures. To make this gourmet snack heartier try adding pieces of bacon or turkey sausage. You can also add a variety of spices such as garlic, red pepper flakes or basil. Anything that pairs nicely with eggs will go great in this simple finger food recipe.

Easy Party Food Recipe: Chickenless Buffalo Wings

As the summer months approach so does the need to find recipes that are lighter and healthier. For many people this means quick, easy appetizers with some modifications to their traditional recipes. One of our personal favorites is "Chickenless" Buffalo wings. This recipe is a great idea for a summer cookout and makes a wonderful and easy party food.

Tempeh, an Indonesian fermented soybean food that is low in fat and calories, is used to replace the chicken. It is more solid than Tofu and has a stronger texture, which gives off a more chicken like feel. This quick and easy appetizer takes only about 40 minutes to prepare and to cook. It is the perfect option for a lighter and unique alternative to mundane and easy party foods.

Ingredients:
Wings:
8 oz package of Tempeh
1/3 cup soy or skim milk
1/3 cup flour
Salt
1 tsp basil leaves
1 tsp paprika
1 clove garlic
Pepper to taste
1 cup crushed Romano Garlic CheeseSticks
Wing Sauce:
1/2 cup Buffalo wing sauce of choice
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon ketchup

Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to boil.
2.Cut tempeh into individual slices. If this is your first time eating tempeh, I would recommend cutting it into thin strips to reduce any texture issues. After the tempeh has been sliced, add to the boiling water and let cook for 15 minutes.
3.Set out three medium sized bowls. In the first bowl add the milk. In the second bowl add the flour, salt, basil, paprika, garlic, pepper and CheeseSticks. In the third bowl combine the Buffalo wing sauce, butter, and ketchup.
4.When the tempeh has been boiled, rinse in strainer with cold water. Then dip the cooked tempeh in the three bowls starting with the milk, followed by the dry mixture and ending with the wing sauce.
5.Place the tempeh on a greased baking pan and cook each side for 10 minutes.

This easy party food can be served in several ways. Chop the wings into individual chunks and serve it in a salad for a lighter appetizer. If you would like to serve this as a meal, simply pair the wings with lettuce, tomatoes, and a blue cheese sauce for great buffalo wraps. This easy party food recipe is sure to be a big hit in the summer months!

Party Finger Foods - Easier on You and Your Guests (John Wm. Macy's CheeseSticks)

One of the strongest trends in food and eating this year is party finger foods. The bite-sized delights are fun and easy to prepare, and are a simple way for guests to enjoy a nibble. Forget the messy dips and sauces and no need to hassle with plates and forks.

There are those who track food trends and eating styles. IFT says 5 of the best-selling new foods this year were bite-sized or hand-held. So whether you determine your menu based on keeping up with trends, or you simply want easy party food, anything you can pop into your mouth in a bite or two should be on your list.

Let's be straight, we aren't suggesting a table full of cheese and crackers. There are a variety of quick appetizers that fit the bill. From baked goodies to rolled tidbits, think about the spectrum of hot and cold, colors that invite, and a range of ingredients including vegetables, meats and seafood, and pastries.

There are also larger dishes that can be shrunken to bite-sized without losing too much in translation.

First a few suggestions. Invest in mini muffin tins. You can create party finger foods that are the perfect size and easy to bake.

Try making mini bite-sized tacos using wonton wrappers, chopped shrimp, ground beef, or even veggie ground round, bake in the mini tins, then top with a small dollop of sour cream, salsa, or even guacamole.

Fill the tins with separated biscuit dough to create a cup, then fill with chopped veggies and cheese, or add sprinkles of bacon or pieces of diced chicken.

If you do plan to go the cracker route, think of something interesting for a topper. If you use cheese, spread some hot or sweet jelly on top or a dried apricot or date. Use smoked salmon, a bit of cream cheese and a caper. Little mini meals make great, quick appetizers.

Presentation is always a key to success. Select beautiful platters that look great as the party finger food are snapped up. Garnish the plates with flowers, herbs, or other fun items. You can easily spread the dishes around the room for people to nibble wherever they are. Be sure to keep napkins nearby, but that's all you'll need!

Finger foods and bite-sized nibbles are a fun easy party food. Easy to eat, fun to make, and right on trend.

It was jubilation time with friends (Seema Singhal)

Success counted sweetest and fortunately I have the privilege to try it by God's grace and blessing my parents. And as modest, I rate my efforts at the end. But I'll tell you that this success was at all not easy. I studied around the clock, and so to say add some metaphorical impression burnt midnight oil. But all seem that efforts that I have in now impossible to achieve this objective. It really was an awesome feeling, everybody starts to look up and casting greetings from all over. The unusual it was my relatives and neighbors are those who once day had given me with the 'vagabond' now proudly say that they close my uncle, aunt, cousin, and other relatives.

Someone had said it very rightly that the success has many fathers and no single failures have. In fact, this saying was used has always been but it is still as true as it was hundreds of centuries ago. Okay, leave apart about what is right, what moral is, what should be and what not should be, etc. These things are there as we have assumed, to be part of human nature. I am very sorry that I until now I not you tell what exactly I have reached and start by talking around beat held. I take sovereignty, apologies for your precious time, take for granted. But I won't be extra care from now on, to repeat this in my correspondence.

Jokes apart, I came by the UPSC exams and am now for the interview to prepare. But my aim is inches from me, but certainly it is not not yet completed. But who is your middle and love those who form including your circle of friends. Try how much I bring the theme of the party to escape, the more she speaks with great pomp and ceremony to celebrate and show. I told them that it may be possible, because I come from this school of thought which believes that no praise should be there until you conquer the last stronghold.

But friends will be friends; Please contact the deaf ears, no excuse that you make. So, is reluctant to throw party at this point, I had to give up on behalf of my friends. And as most of my friends are vegetarians, we checked for the best vegetarian restaurant in Delhi. We encountered a number of restaurants, but it gave an exclusive restaurant for pure vegetarian food and the different foods that were mentioned in his website were as follows: Gujrati thali, Rajasthani food, South Indian food, North Indian food and other food lips smacking. The best part of this restaurant was his reputation; It was awarded food 4 consecutive times in the recent past. And the other thing, the us, our attracted orders to give up was his free home delivery. Only we our was transmitted within half an hour order the food to us. We opened food box and literary the scent, it was blow been lost. The author of this article is a resident of New Delhi. He often shares his food experience in restaurants on a number of Web portals. This time, he shares his awesome food experience, when he ordered an Indian vegetarian thali in a pure vegetarian restaurant in New Delhi.

Lu Loves Indie Labels - Blütezeit Berlin.

Hello, hello! Remember my outfit post with that awesome green hoodie? :) It was handmade by Blütezeit Berlin, the indie label I want to introduce in this blogpost! :) Back in spring, I got to know Kristin, the label's owner, and she suggested a cooperation. I was invited to visit her in her shop and studio, I chose two great handmade pieces of clothing from her label, tooks lots of photos and then I asked her lots of questions about her work so that you and I can get to know her better. Since Luloveshandmade is an indepentent label, too (although I'm currently more focused on my blog than on selling handmade items), I find it always super interesting to get to know more about other people's work. :) So here's what I can tell you about Blütezeit Berlin.
Kristin Jacob, the owner and founder of Blütezeit Berlin, is a fashion designer who came to Berlin in 2005 in order to become an Assistant of Fashion and Design. Afterwards, she studied fashion design at the University of Applied Sciences and in the meantime, she has already been starting her own brand. In her spare time, she loves travelling, reading, skateboarding, and yoga and of course, making clothes. Almost everything in her wardrobe is made by herself. Since the beginning of this year, she is a mum. Being a mother now is her most important job and the best thing which could have happened to her.
Are you curious about how she got the idea to found an independent business? :) Kristin has known for more than ten years that she wanted to work independently one day. When she was sixteen years old, she was the intern at an advertising agency and has been sitting in front of the computer for eight hours a day. From that time on, she knew that this was not what she wanted to do for the rest of her life and that she needed more variety. The good thing about being self-employed is that it is often up to you how much you earn, because it depends on how hard you work. You can organize your day on your own and it´s always exciting because you never know what´s coming next. Of course, this is exhausting, too, she told me, because even in her spare time, Kristin thinks about work, too.
How did Blütezeit Berlin come to life? Well, Kristin told me that creating clothes has been her hobby for a long time. At the age of thirteen, she has been sitting at her mother’s sewing machine for the first time and then she started making clothes herself. Because her own wardrobe was too full because of all the clothes, she started selling them on DaWanda. When people started to buy them, she went on with creating new designs.
Kristin is the mother of a little daughter and being self-employed better allows her to balance motherhood and work. At the moment, she takes her baby daughter to work with her and it is made even easier because her studio and shop (which she shares with another designer) are at the same place. But off course, she currently works much less than before, because she enjoys the time with her baby and this inspires her a lot. What is really great is that in the future she then wants to design Blütezeit Berlin clothes for babies and kids.
When I asked Kristin about her favorite thing about designing clothes, she told me that she loved making cuts, looking for new fabrics and especially seeing the new design on the model or customer, seeing how good it fits and looks. When developing a new collection and starting the design process, she first chooses the colors of the collection and then she looks for inspiration. Next, she starts looking for fabrics and makes the first sketches. The new collections are always a mixture of old and well-liked designs and new color combinations and styles. Then Kristin starts sewing the first clothes of a collection and step by step, all the pieces are created.
What I also wanted to know was if Kristin had any advice for other people who want to become self-employed and want to found their own indie business, especially a fashion label. She told me what was most important is to be passionate about your work, because you are going to work a lot! Moreover, it’s not bad to have some knowledge about running a business, because most of the time, you will rather be a businessman (or woman :)) than a designer. Like Andy Warhol once said, “Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.”
So inspiring! I always love hearing other creative people's stories and I'm always super impressed when people like Kristin spend their life with doing what they love!
What is more, I love the two pieces of clothing I was allowed to choose (the outfit post with the sweater can be see here and the outfit post with the dress can be seen here) and I especially love the cozy green streetstyle hoodie (on top of this blogpost), it's so comfy and still so pretty and super carefully made and totally worth its price! :)

If you now have become curious and want to have a look at all of Kristin's other pieces of handmade clothing, you can visit her website and shop and see more:
