The first time I sewed a top after a sewing pattern.

Hello! :) I hope you're all fine and had a lovely day! :)
I recently bought my first sewing magazine with real sewing patterns (so far I made all 'patterns' myself after my own sketches and didn't use any professional patterns) and already finished a skirt about a month ago. Last week I sewed this top after a pattern I found in the latest issue of Burda easy (a German sewing magazine) and I made it for my mum as a present for Mother's Day. :) The instructions were really easy and the pattern is rather simple, there are four parts for the front and four parts for the back. It took me one evening to copy the pattern, to cut the fabric, to iron and to sew the top. :) It's quite wide, cool and comfortable and perfect for really hot summer days! :) I loved to combine it with a thin belt, but I think my mother will wear it just as it is and she really liked my surprise. <3
If you consider starting to sew your own clothes, I can really recomment this magazine, it's easy to comprehend what you need to do and for me it was so much fun to sew this top with the help of this mag! :) I think I will make one top for myself, too, maybe just a little bit longer. It has been the second article of clothing I made using a pattern out of this magazine and I already bought fabric for a dress I want to make soon. :)
Any recommendations for good sewing books / magazines for people who just start sewing their own clothes? I'd love to read your advice! :)
I'm super happy about how this top turned out and can't wait to sew more! What do you think? How do you like the shirt's shape? :)

(P.S.: Check out my blogger friend Sammy's blog, she wrote a suuuuper cute article about our 'first date' and our afternoon in Berlin!! :) Sammy is awesome, we had a great time and I will also post photos as soon as my fisheye film is full... :))
